The Sales Engineer will join thecompany which is becoming an increasingly prominent global supplier to OEMs in the on highway truck, and off highway construction and agricultural markets. The company has full research, design and development facilities on site to drive its product development. The postholder will work with clients regarding new product development to ensure opportunities are not missed, together with design and engineering in order to develop technical solutions. The remit for this position is wide ranging, encompassing business development plans through key account management, together with strategy implementation and the execution of project management initiatives. Key duties and responsibilities Identify and define potential customer product development requirements to contribute to business increase, sales planning and assist/promote strategy development. Gather and interpret market intelligence to forecast product and sector potentials, at strategic and detailed level. Assist in developing, compiling and reporting strategic sales plan. Identify points of entry and open sales contact with potential new customers. Communicate effectively with the design and other departments to contribute to product and sales planning over long and short term. Negotiate on price and volume to achieve agreements within the company remit and receive/win customer orders accordingly. Maintain and develop existing customer relationships to promote customer confidence and loyalty and to secure improvements in volumes and margins. Ensure, in association with product design department, that product design and manufacturing costs are in line with customer technical requirements in order to develop a benchmark, for price negotiations. Facilitates NPI process according to departmental procedures and ensures good communication and co-ordination through all areas. Ensure the delivery of an unrivalled level of service to customers. Provide a proactive account management function, through the creation of dynamic and profitable working relationships to promote customer confidence and to secure improvements in volumes and margins over the long term. Skills &amp; Requirements:This is a prime sales/account management position requiring the holder to take responsibility for all aspects of the relationship with key strategic customers. In addition to the commercial aspects of the business you will work alongside applications engineers on existing and new business opportunities in accordance with our strategic objectives. Key duties and responsibilities include maintenance and development of relationships with existing customers to promote customer confidence and secure improvements in volumes and margins. The postholder will negotiate on price and volume to achieve agreements within the company remit and communicate effectively with the design and other departments to contribute to product and sales planning over long and short term. The successful candidate should be a confident self-starter who will take responsibility and accountability without being prompted. Candidates must be educated to degree level (or equivalent) with a technical/mechanical engineering bias. Relevant automotive sector sales experience is preferred as is commercial acumen, engineering experience, and knowledge of automotive business practices. A European language would be an advantage..

Key duties include close monitoring of new product introductions ensuring that internal and TS46949 requirements are met. Lead cross-functional Quick Action Meetings to ensure that corrective actions are in place which will prevent re-occurrence. 2 Closely monitor the new products for which you have responsibility. Create and update the 'New Product Introduction Plans notifying the Quality Assurance Manager of any NPI Milestones which fall behind schedule. Lead the Approval to Ship meeting ensuring that the Approval to Ship checklist is adhered to. 3 Compile the advanced quality planning documentation (ensuring compliance to customer specifications. ) 4 For new products and process changes review the production process to identify any potential problems (Genchi Genbutu. ) 5 Take an active role in the review of FMEAs. 6 Liaise between internal departments, and external suppliers, to ensure the quality requirements of the customers for which you have responsibility are met. 7 Ensure both company and customer standards are adhered to in line with TS16949. 8 Provide technical support to all internal departments, suppliers and customers to ensure company objectives are met. 9 Participate in inter-departmental activities, providing a quality input into these activities. 10 Provide information and statistics relating to quality, to allow departments to initiate plans for defect reduction and corrective action. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. As required manage immediate supplier quality concerns should they occur, helping to co-ordinate stock check activity, initiate and validate corrective and preventive actions. 2. May be assigned as a TS16949 internal auditors and be required to participate in internal audits. The most suitable candidate will have the following attributes:1. Degree in mechanical, production or automotive engineering related discipline (this is desirable not essential. ) 2. Minimum of 5 years practical quality experience. 3.
