The Role Spectrum Planning within the their system is a challenge, balancing the needs of the business and its customers with the physical and regulatory constraints imposed by the satellites and national and international bodies. To assist in this process has developed a number of software tools which are used within SMOP. These include a real time software system (the Global Resource Manager - GRM) which interfaces with the network and satellite control systems, a sophisticated planning database system (the Frequency Planning System - FPS) which models the satellite RF environment and several simpler stand alone planning tools. This role is focussed on the long term development of these systems. Whilst the Systems Analyst will be conversant with the GRM and FPS (providing on call support for these systems) the successful candidates main area of responsibility lies with the other software tools used by SMOP, including the development of new tools as needs arise. To this end the individual will be less involved in day to day operational issues, and will focus more on analysing one off events to gain insight into system anomalies and how system operation and planning could be improved. Key Responsibilities  Perform (and document) technical analyses of congestion, interference and anomaly events, and propose system modifications/improvements and/or the development of new tools based on these analyses.  Produce ad hoc software tools in the performance of these analyses.  Oversee and manage the development of software planning tools. These will include SSPT, FPS, the BGAN CFM and the Yield Tool.  Liaise with other departments/divisions about forthcoming upgrades and developments, to assess whether SMOP needs additional tools to handle these developments efficiently  Provide on call support for the operation of the GRM and FPS systems.
