Description of the RoleWe have an opportunity for an experienced and influential heath and safety professional to join the team at our manufacturing site in Cumbria. As Health and Safety Leader you will drive achievement of the highest safety standards for the site in line with corporate guidelines and objectives. Youre in depth knowledge of health and safety legislation combined with experience gained in FMCG manufacturing will enable you to establish a credible and influential presence and to communicate at all levels. You will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in safety systems to maintain an accident free environment. You will establish successful relationships with Occupational Health, Quality and Environment teams on site and at our head office in Reigate, Surrey, along with external suppliers and regulatory bodies. To coach and mentor team members to create standards to stabilise and sustain the process. Overview of Vacancy: This is a new role based in the Papermill and the successful candidate will be on call approximately one week in every 4 or 5. He/she will ensure co-ordination between night and day shifts and will make sure that all relevant information is shared and activities handed over accordingly. He/she will co-ordinate part of the morning meeting following night shift end, and attend the Line Meeting that follows to help set priorities for the day. He/she will be responsible for coaching and mentoring staff in the mill and will be a functional expert with knowledge of how to run machines in the papermill. The successful candidate must have the ability to co-ordinate the efforts of relevant team members in order to problem solve. The ability to lead and influence is key to this role. Paper making knowledge/expertise would be ideal, although experience in a continuous manufacturing environment may be suitable. You will be reporting to the Technical Director is a busy food processing environment. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You will be working with a team of QA's and managing the technical department.                      &lt;br /&gt;                                                                        In proportion to job responsibilities;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To ensure knowledge of and compliance with all Food Safety &amp;amp; Quality Policies and Procedures&lt;br /&gt;To assist with the training and development of others. &lt;br /&gt;To ensure effective communications. &lt;br /&gt;To ensure knowledge of and compliance with all Company Policies, Procedures etc&lt;br /&gt;Key Responsibilities;&lt;br /&gt;Manage, direct, train and review the needs of the Quality Assurance Team. &lt;br /&gt;To deputise for the Technical Manager when required. &lt;br /&gt;To ensure the training process of staff in basic hygiene requirements is conducted. &lt;br /&gt;Ensure factory hygiene is maintained, consistent with statutory and customer requirements, in conjunction with factory management. &lt;br /&gt;Communicate effectively, issues of Food Safety and Quality to all employees of the Company. &lt;br /&gt;Any ad hoc project work as directed by the Technical Manager. &lt;br /&gt;Maintain and improve an effective internal audit system. &lt;br /&gt;Responding to customer or audit issues or queries or any appropriate action points. &lt;br /&gt;To support and implement Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Path (HACCP)&lt;br /&gt;Control and monitor incoming raw material, ensuring all deliveries are to specified requirements. &lt;br /&gt;To assist and ensure that BRC / third party accreditation is maintained at highest level. &lt;br /&gt;Support the Technical Services Supervisor completing training where necessary to ensure the required competencies and job objective. &lt;br /&gt;Personal Specification: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;PERSON SPECIFICATION: &lt;br /&gt;Experience of working in a food factory, You will be a Good communication &amp;amp; Interpersonal skills, Drive, and energy for this role.
